Austin Briggs (1908-1973) è stato un fumettista e illustratore statunitense.
Nato a Humboldt, Minnesota, crebbe a Detroit, nel Michigan, prima di trasferirsi a New York City da adolescente. Dopo aver lavorato per un'agenzia pubblicitaria e per la rivista pulp "Blue Book", Briggs in seguito divenne assistente di Alex Raymond per Flash Gordon e gli succedette come disegnatore della serie Secret Agent X-9. Dal 1940 al 1944 disegnò strisce di Flash Gordon, passando poi alle illustrazioni per libri e riviste come Readers Digest e The Saturday Evening Post. E' stato uno dei fondatori della Famous Artists School insieme ad altri grandi artisti dell'epoca quali Stevan Dohanos, Robert Fawcett, Peter Helck, Fred Ludekens, Al Parker, Norman Rockwell, Ben Stahl, Harold von Schmidt e Jon Whitcomb.
